We would like a detailed review of why public money has been spent on schemes in both Horsham and Chichester, that instead of resulting in useful cycleways as planned, has resulted in schemes that do not suit the needs of those who cycle regularly but worse, will deter those who wish to cycle.
WSCC was awarded £2.46 million of external funding from central government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund. While the planned projects initially showed some promise, with useful consultation and engagement with local cycling organisations. Sadly at the end much of the money has gone unspent, or spent on things that are of no use to cycling as sustainable transport.
We think it would be extremely valuable to review why these schemes failed to result in useful facilities, especially since large sums of public money were involved.
