We want to show what safe space for cycling (and walking) could look like along the A259 with our temporary pop-up cycle lane, created with planters & flowers. We'll aim to demonstrate how pleasant it could make this route for cycling and walking so that people of all ages and abilities could choose to cycle safely and enjoyably between Chichester and Emsworth.
Be there at 10 for the photo at 10.30. Will be finished by 10.45.Please wear bright colours for the photo (although preferably not hi-viz - something more cheerful!), and feel free to decorate your bike. Children and 'interesting' bikes encouraged. Walkers, scooters, buggies, tag-alongs, wheelchairs & mobility scooters all welcome too. This event is organised by Chemroute, a campaign group calling for a safe, segregated cycle route along the A259 from Chichester to Emsworth, in conjunction with ChiCycle. Please note that we will aim to make the event as safe as possible, and it will be covered by ChiCycle's public liability insurance, but do be aware that we'll be using the carriageway (albeit in an existing advisory cycle lane, with planters to separate us from traffic) and will ask those who feel comfortable to cycle along the pop-up cycle lane for a series of photos. As such, there is an inherent risk that you should be aware of before taking part, and you will need to be aware of passing traffic, and ride with care, especially with younger children. We're also looking for a photographer (or someone with a semi-decent camera) to volunteer to take a few pictures on the day to use for publicity after the event. If you can help, please get in touch with me.
